Maxells Festkörperbatterie-Module in Industrierobotern bei Subaru im Einsatz – Testbetrieb seit August 2025

Im Einsatz bei Subaru: Weniger Batteriewechsel. Weniger Wartungsaufwand.

Maxell's all-solid-state battery power modules, equipped with its ceramic-packaged all-solid-state battery PSB401010H, have been installed in industrial robots and their controllers at a Subaru Corporation production facility. Test operation began in August 2025 at Subaru's Oizumi Plant in Japan.

Industrial robots commonly rely on primary batteries to maintain memory and real-time clock (RTC) functions during power interruptions. These batteries typically require replacement every one to two years, resulting in maintenance work and the disposal of used batteries.

To address these challenges, Maxell developed a rechargeable backup power module based on its all-solid-state battery technology. Designed for demanding industrial environments, the module offers high safety and an expected service life of more than ten years. By replacing conventional primary batteries, it can help reduce battery replacement frequency, maintenance workload, and industrial waste.

Through this evaluation at Subaru's manufacturing facility, Maxell aims to demonstrate the practical benefits of long-life, maintenance-reducing backup power solutions and further expand the use of all-solid-state battery modules in industrial applications. The company continues to focus on developing batteries featuring long lifetime, high heat resistance, high output capability, and high capacity for applications where conventional batteries face limitations.
